Two Peas In A Bucket - Gardeners' Digest

Hey everybody!  Welcome to the December edition of the Gardeners' Digest.  The Garderners' Digest is simply a monthly update from the Garden Girls, the design team at Two Peas In A Bucket.  It's a place for us to share what we're currently working on, inspired by, using in our projects, etc.  A little diary of sorts for you to keep up with all of us on our personal blogs as well as over at Two Peas In A Bucket.

I love the holidays and I love shaker cards.  Put those two together and you get this card that I created for my latest Finally Friday video.  Shaker cards may look at little intimidating, but honestly they are really easy to create.  And so much fun to boot!  If you haven't watched my video I encourage you to check it out right here on Two Peas In A Bucket.  I bet you'll be shakin' in no time!  ;)

Browsing the gallery at Two Peas is one of my favorite things to do when I'm looking for inspiration.  I recently came across this layout by my friend Christa Paustenbaugh.  We participate in the Elf on a Shelf tradition in our house (yes, I'm talking about you Sheldon) and I love to see other families' elves in action as well.  Christa documented her family's elf antics perfectly on this simple graphic layout.  Here's a look at Christa's layout ...

Next I'd like to share a few recent purchases I've made from the shop at Two Peas. With Valentine's Day just around the corner I think you'll see a bit of a theme with my latest purchases.  ;)

  • Devoted collection by Carta Bella (I LOVE the combination of blue and gray with pink and red for Valentine's Day and this collection puts those colors together perfectly)
  • Glitter Tape by American Crafts (I readily admit I'm not a big glitter person, but I couldn't resist purchasing a few of these to try out on some upcoming projects)

Garden Girl Lisa Truesdell has just launched a brand new mini workshop called Start Here.  Here's a description of Lisa's new class ...

"Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working." - Pablo Picasso

Get a jump on inspiration with Start Here. In this workshop, Lisa Truesdell will give you the tools to turn almost any image into a jumping off point for your next layout. You'll learn to break down images into smaller elements and use them to inspire your page's color combo, design, or even new techniques. We'll talk about finding images you love and identifying what grabbed you about them, and how to put that inspiration to work! Lisa is joined by twelve talented contributors who will each be sharing a page based on one of Lisa's inspiration pieces, as well as their thoughts on finding starting points in unexpected places.

Included in the workshop are 27 brand-new scrapbook pages (15 from Lisa and 12 from her contributors) showcasing a variety of interpretations of inspiration pieces, 3 printable PDFs and 3 brand new videos following Lisa as she makes a layout starting with an inspiration piece.

Lisa's talented contributors include Allison Waken, Ashley Calder, Becky Novacek, Doris Sander, Erica Hernandez, Emily Spahn, Kelly Noel, Kristina Nicolai-White, Laura Kurz, Lexi Bridges, Lisa Dickinson, and Marcy Penner

The content of this workshop will be available immediately upon purchase. The lessons are available for you to work at your own pace and upon purchase can be accessed in the "Workshops" section under "Classes & Events." A private message board forum is also available to ask questions for Lisa and to connect with other participants. Enjoy!

Goodies for Sale!

Anyone interested in a goodie box of scrapbook supplies? I’m cleaning out the scrap studio to make some room. Most of it is unused (there may be a few stickers missing here and there). Cost is $50 which includes USPS Flat Rate shipping. The boxes are all random, but I’ve got lots of great companies that may be in there including American Crafts, Basic Grey, Crate Paper, Echo Park, My Mind’s Eye, October Afternoon, Pebbles, Studio Calico, Doodlebug Design, etc just to name a few.  Please note that not every company will be represented in every box, but just to give you an idea of what product I have.  Nothing really old either – most product is from the last 1-2 years.  Embellishments will be included as well - chipboard, stickers, buttons, jewels, etc.

I am willing to ship internationally as long as you are willing to pay actual shipping costs.  In those cases the boxes will cost $38 PLUS actual shipping charges.  You can email me with your address and I will give you an approximate idea of shipping if you'd like (be mindful that these boxes are heavy and that shipping cost will reflect that).

I have SEVERAL boxes to sell so if you would like more than one just let me know.  Also let me know which companies you are most interested in, if you scrap mostly boys, girls, or both.  I can't guarantee everything on your wish list will be in there, but goodness knows I'll try to include as much as I can!  ;)

If you’re interested just send me an email at lghahary(at)cevant(dot)com.  Thanks!  :)

Pebbles - hello, blue eyes

Hi everybody!  I have a new layout to share up on the Pebbles blog using the just released collection - Family Ties.  This is a wonderful family themed collection, but can also be used for everyday scrapping as well.  I absolutely love the colors in this collection - blue, green, yellow, and brown.  They combine wonderfully together and are just so vibrant and easy to work with.

This is my adorable nephew Eli.  Tell me he does not have the most amazing blue eyes and curly blonde hair.  He is such a little cutie!  I took this picture during our annual family vacation in Ocean City this past July.  I was trying so hard to get him to smile but he was just having none of it, so I settled on snapping whatever photos I could of him.  He's still pretty stinkin' cute, smile or no smile.  ;)

I used a pin from Basic Grey (that matches this collection perfectly btw) to pop up my "hello" banner for my title and these great new Thickers in Robin's Egg blue.  The collection has two new fonts - one capital and one lowercase - and each font comes in 3 different colors.  For Thickers fanatics like myself (yes, I fully admit I am addicted! LOL) this is music to your ears.

Pebbles came out with another set of Quote and Journarling card books with this collection.  LOVED these when they first appeared in the Seen & Noted collection.  LOVE them even more now.  I used one to write some of journaling.  I simply typed up my journaling in my word processing program and printed it out, adhered my card over my journaling, and ran it through my printer again.  Easy peasy.

A few stickers here and there that I adorned with enamel dots from My Minds Eye and some paper banners and this layout is complete!  Thanks for stopping by!  :)

Holiday Card 2012

View the entire collection of cards.

Just thought I'd share our holiday card for 2012.  I always love to pick a simple design and use one of the family images from our fall photo session with Janine Grimm (she's so crazy talented and awesome to work with! Thanks Janine!).  I purchased these cards from Shutterfly.  They have lots of great promotions happening now including up to 40% off certain styles and free shipping over $30.

Alas, while I'd love to send a physical card to all of you, this cyber version will just have to do.  So from my family to yours ... Happy Holidays!  xoxo  Lynn :)

Two Peas In A Bucket - Ready Set Go

Hello?  Is this thing on?  Anyone out there?  ;)  Yeah, I know - it's been awhile.  But to say that things have been a little crazy around here is an understatement.  For those of you that don't know, I live in New Jersey.  Right before Halloween, Hurricane Sandy swept through our area and left lots of devastation behind.  We were without power for days, running out of food and gas, unable to reach family members, freezing in our house, etc.  And we were the lucky ones.  We got power back 5 days after the hurricane only to lose it a few days later thanks to Winter Storm Athena.  And again ... we were the lucky ones.  We regained power several days after that, only to lose it a third time when temporary repairs at one of the substations that power our area caught on fire.  And still ... we are among the lucky ones.  We have a lot to be grateful for this Thanksgiving.  The destruction caused by these storms throughout the tri-state area is unreal.  So many lost their homes, everything they owned, and even loved ones.  It has been a truly humbling experience.

It goes without saying that no power = no scrapbooking so it's been awhile since I've played with paper and glue.  And to be honest I haven't really wanted to, but I'm starting to get that itch again and that's a good thing.  Before all of this happened (feels like ages ago) I had created this layout for Two Peas In A Bucket about my youngest son Brandon.  I used lots of goodies from the amazing Ready Set Go collection by Amy Tan for American Crafts.  This is a great collection for everyday scrapbooking and perfect if you have boys to scrap in your life.

I used my Silhouette to cut the chevron background and then backed parts of the design with patterned papers for a really fun effect.  The embellishments in this collection are SO.MUCH.FUN. and I added them here and there in clusters along with a bit of stamping using stamps from Ali Edwards for Technique Tuesday.

This layout is about the daily balancing act I have with my youngest as he learns to be more independent.  I think I'm struggling even more with this with him because he is my youngest.  In so many ways he wants to let go and push forward, while at the same time holding on tight.  I find myself doing the same and so it feels like at times we are in a tug of war - pushing and pulling from either side.  We'll figure it out - I know we will.  The "Ready Set Go" sticker seemed like an appropriate title for this layout and I set it off with a bit of stamping and added die cuts and stickers for extra detail.

I added my son's name to the bottom of one of my photos with the letter stickers from this collection.  They are somewhat transparent so it adds a really fun effect when you place them directly on photos.  I added a few more embellishments and an arrow clip as well (LOVE these clips as well as the other shapes available in the Two Peas store) to finish things off.
