this is my angry face

Well not my angry face.  Brandon's angry face.  And oh what a face it is!  LOL  This is my third and final layout that I created as guest designer for Polka Dot Whimsy this month.  I meant to blog about it yesterday but the day totally got away from me so here it is today.

Seriously though will you just look at that face!  And that is exactly what he says ... "Do you see this mama?  This is my angry face."  Well at least the boy knows how to express his emotions.  ;)  I used a bit of mist on the background for this one as well as my journaling strips and just had lots of fun with my punches.

There were these really cool chipboard shapes included in the kit as well as some fun die cuts so I put them together and created this sort of spinner to point to the word angry.  Okay well truth be told it doesn't actually spin but it LOOKS like it does, right? ;)

I've actually been busy scrapping away this week.  I'm the June guest designer for another kit club so I've been busy working on some stuff for that.  Will share those once their gallery goes live sometime next week.  Until then have a fabulous weekend and a very Happy Memorial Day!  :)

super silly

Okay so I promised another layout today from the Polka Dot Whimsy kit and here it is!  This one was super fun to make.  As I said yesterday the colors in this kit are just awesome!  Bright and cheery and they just reminded me of a rainbow.  So I decided to paper piece this kinda sunburst design around a center circle the was the background for some super silly photobooth pictures the boys took with Salar at Brandon's 4th birthday party.

I would love to say that this technique is way complicated and such but it really wasn't.  I started with a plain white piece of cardstock, arranged my patterned papers in my "rainbow" and then started laying them down, cutting here and there to create this pattern.  Then when they were all pieced down I zig zag stitched between each piece.  A few sticker accents from Pebbles (yay!) and some coordinating buttons here and there and I was done.

I've got one more layout to share tomorrow so be sure to check back then!  :)

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  Things were pretty low key here which is just how I like it sometimes.  Darian is feeling a TON better since he's been on antibiotics for a few days now (thank you for all of the well wishes).  And today is the first day both boys are in school since last Tuesday!  Hallelujah!  LOL!

Okay so first things first.  Thank you for all of the sweet comments regarding the designer feature in CARDS magazine.  Carla was the first person to guess that the "hailing from canada" line was incorrect but Keshka was the first gal to note where I really DO hail from (Jersey girl here!) so I am going to send you both a little something for playing along with me.  I just need your mailing addresses ladies.  You can email me your information at lghahary(at)cevant(dot)com and I'll get some goodies out in the mail to you right away.

Next up I wanted to share a layout I created as the May Guest Designer for Polka Dot Whimsy.  If you're not familiar with PDW you should really check it out - it's a great kit club run by Michelle Hill that features lots and lots of great goodies and vintage inspired finds.  The kit I got to work with was filled to the brim with yummy bright colors and you know that's how I love my patterned papers!  I created a few layouts with the kit but I'm going to share just one today.  I'll be back with more tomorrow (gives me a good reason to blog! hee hee!).

This layout uses some of the new Anthology collection from Studio Calico as well as patterned papers from Pebbles and October Afternoon and a few bits of We R Memory Keepers for my butterflies.

I had a lot of fun with my punches on this layout.  I think I used 2 different kinds of border punches, 2 different size circle punches, and of course that adorable butterfly punch from Martha Stewart.  I'm kinda like the Carrie Bradshaw of punches - a girl can never have too many!  ;)

In the photo below you can see a canvas flower that was included in the kit (I believe it was punched with the new Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers die for Sizzix) and a lace ribbon rosette I created for the center.  This is so easy to make - just thread a running stitch along the bottom edge of your ribbon and tie your ends together once you reach your desired size.  Easy peasy!

Okay that's it for me today.  See ya'll tomorrow with another layout from this kit!  :)
