Hip Hop Thursday!

Happy Hip Hop everyone! I really hope you've been enjoying all of the fun and festivities in honor of Unity's one year anniversary this week. I know I have! Start your blog hop with Angela over on the Unity blog and be sure to check out ALL of the new releases for today - they are all AMAZING!

My layout today uses some oldies but goodies including Worn Grid (US-220W), Amazing Me (UK-154A), and Just My Type alphabet.

I love the versatility of Unity stamps and that I can create any title I need in whatever color I want. Here's a close up of the title work on this layout:

Now hop along and visit the super sweet *** Brooke ***

It ain't easy being green ...

... but it is easy to win a little green from GCD Studios! Check out all of the details on the GCD Studios blog and see how you can enter to win a fabulous "green" prize package! Good luck! :)

Challenge with Mary and Laura ...

So two of my favorite scrappy gals Mary and Laura do these little challenges every few weeks where they pick 3 or 4 items and then each scrap a layout including those items. They sometimes invite others to join in and, well, this week I kinda invited myself to join them. Good thing they like me and said okay! Hee hee!

But they DID give me a challenge because this is what they decided on using:
1. die cuts
2. scallops
3. pink
4. glitter

Okay so I can totally deal with # 1 and #2 but #3 and #4 are quite a stretch for this all boy mom. Do I even own pink cardstock? (it just so happens that I DO own a few pieces!) It was a really good reason to do an "about me" page and use some of my yummy new GCD Studios papers I just got in the mail the other week to boot.

So here's what I came up with ...

Like I said, I had really been wanting to do an "about me" page and this was the perfect reason to get it done. The little journaling strips are just some random facts about me - some are kinda trivial (like I truly hate feet! they totally gross me out!) and some are more profound (like this month is the 5 year anniversary of my dad's passing). I went ALL OUT with the pink and glitter. I just kinda couldn't stop once I got going. I actually had to take a few things OFF my page after it was done because it was just so darn glittery (is that a word?). See that PINK, GLITTER, DIE-CUT chipboard, SCALLOPED heart below? Yep! I think I met all four criteria with that one accent right there. LOL

Make sure to head on over to Mary and Laura's blogs and see what they've come up with as well. :)

Hip Hop Thursday!

It's Hip Hop Thursday and it's time to CELEBRATE because Unity Stamp Company is turning ONE next week! You are cordially invited to join in on our week long celebration filled with lots of games, prizes, and tons of Unity inspiration! I really hope to see you all there!

To start the party off right I created this fun little "celebrate" card using stamps from the April Kit of the Month and Mix Up of Cuteness (UK-310A) in honor of Unity's birthday.

Also don't forget to check out Unity's BRAND NEW gathering place called My Unity Place. This new site will be a one stop place for all things Unity including a gallery, tutorials, and videos! Make sure to join us there!

And finally what would Hip Hop be without a layout. It just so happens that Unity and my little guy share the same birthday month. My boy just turned 3 years old this past weekend. Keeping with the celebration theme I created this layout of Brandon making a wish and blowing out the candle on his cake.

I used the "celebrate" sentiment from the April Kit of the Month again as well as the numbers from the March Kit of the Month and stars from the Let's Get Scrappy kit (UK-357A).

A few more detail photos ...

Now hop along and go visit ...

Happy Birthday Brandon!

I just have to post today and say that it is my sweet little boy Brandon's 3rd birthday. He is truly my "one in a million" baby and I am so blessed to be his mommy.

Here's a picture of him from a family party we had yesterday making a wish and getting ready to blow out his candle. I wonder what he was wishing for? Probably something to do with Spiderman and super heroes I'm sure. ;)

Happy Birthday sweet baby boy! Your mommy, daddy, and big brother Darian love you!

A layout to celebrate Earth Day!

Hey all! Just wanted to share a layout I created for the GCD Studios blog in celebration of Earth Day. I love to garden. And I love to scrapbook. Put those two together and you get this layout ... :)

This little paper pieced tree was inspired by Unity Stamp Company's adorable Burberry tree stamp.

Be sure to keep checking in at the GCD Studios blog over the next few days to see what some of the other GCD gals have created.

Hip Hop Thursday!

It's Hip Hop Thursday and it's all about MOMS! Hooray! As always be sure to start the blog hop with Angela over on the Unity blog.

Being a mom is the most wonderful thing in the world. There's so much I could say about being a mom to my two boys. You can actually see a layout I created about becoming a mom on the cover of the May issue of Scrapbook Trends coming out soon! :) But today I am going to focus on MY mom. She is, in one word, AMAZING. She has been there for me through everything - the good times and, well, the not so good times. So today is all about you mom (you better be reading this! LOL). Thank you for being you!

I used the sweet little bird on a branch image from the April Kit of the Month on this layout. It is so adorable and I love that you can just color it to match any patterned paper you are using. So cute!

I also used the "our story" sentiment from the Our Life, Our Stories in Words kit (UK- 343A) on my chipboard tag. The journaling on this layout is all about how I've been told all my life that I look "just like mom" and I didn't really see the resemblance until I got older. Now I feel so lucky to look like her because she is one of the most beautiful people I know inside and out.

Now head on over to your next stop on the blog hop ...

It's Monday ...

... and I am REALLY hoping to get back to our regular routine. Last week was such a whirlwind with Darian home on Spring Break. Those boys of mine are just NUTS! All in all we had a good week although I have to say I am thankful that we are back to our usual schedule this week. Phew! I have been MISSING my scrap room and really need to get in here and start playing with paper and stamps again. I did manage to create this layout for one of the scraplift challenges over on the Scrapbooks Etc. blog. The original was by the very talented Denine Zielinski. I LOVE these sweet boy themed papers by KI Memories - the coordinating dimensional stickers and chipboard accents are just too cute!

Just a quick one ...

I have not had much free time at all this week. It's spring break and the boys have been causing all sorts of havoc in this house. It doesn't help that it's been cold and rainy for most of the week so we can't even get outside to blow off some steam. If this is any indication of what the summer is going to be like let's just say that I am in trouble. Big trouble. Yikes!

Just wanted to share this layout that was published in the March issue of Scrapbook Trends. I took these pictures of Darian right before his 4th birthday. Doesn't he look so handsome? Hee hee! Lots of Jenni Bowlin goodies on this layout. Thanks for stopping by!

I can finally share ...

... just how very excited I am to be joining the GCD Studios Design Team! WOO HOO! I am so thrilled and can't wait to meet all the other gals on the team. Stop by the GCD Studios blog today - there's a giveaway going on and I believe you still have time to join in! :)

Hip Hop Thursday!

We are going back in time with a little baby themed Hip Hop today. Be sure to start your hop with Angela over at the Unity blog and see what specials she's got in store for you today.

Here's a picture of me when I was a little one. Not sure how old I am in this picture - probably about a year or so. Cute eh? LOL

For my layout today I used the adorable Little Sprout (UK-358A) kit designed by Lisa Hetrick. I LOVE this set - so so so cute! I also used the "i love you" sentiment stamp from the April Kit of the Month.

This picture is actually of my first son Darian when he was just 9 months old. I just love baby pictures like this where you can see their cute chubby fingers and toes. He is 4.5 years old now and such a big boy. I remember when he was younger always wishing for the next stage to come to see what new things were in store for us, and now I just wish I could go back in time and hold those cute little hands and feet once more. *sigh*

...

Check out this tree image with the adorable hanging onesie! I just love this!

That's all I've got for today. Next stop on your hop is with the wonderful Maren! Enjoy!

ETA: I had a question about the patterned papers I used on this layout. Everything is from Stampin' Up! Delicate Dots Designer Series Paper (available during this past sale-a-bration) except the tiny green dot which is from Making Memories Paperie line. :)

Kraft Girl Kits Guest Designer!

Hey Everyone! I was so excited to be asked to be the Guest Designer for Kraft Girl Kits for the month of April. Pam puts together some really yummy kits and April's was no exception. Lots and lots of pretty papers and fun embellishments to work with. Thanks again Pam!

Here's what I created with the kit ...

For this next layout I had some help in the photography department from one of my very bestest gal pals AnnaMarie. Not only is she an AMAZING photographer and scrapbooker, but she and her hubby make some pretty darn cute kiddos too! LOL This is her sweet girl Sophie - an absolute doll! Thanks again AnnaMarie for letting me scrap your girl!

And finally a card ...
