Two Peas In A Bucket - Gardeners' Digest

Hey everybody!  Welcome to the June edition of the Gardeners' Digest.  The Garderners' Digest is simply a monthly update from the Garden Girls, the design team at Two Peas In A Bucket.  It's a place for us to share what we're currently working on, inspired by, using in our projects, etc.  A little diary of sorts for you to keep up with all of us on our personal blogs as well as over at Two Peas In A Bucket.

So I have to admit that I don't actually have any new projects in the works at this moment.  But I did just recently have a new project that went up in the Garden this past Monday.  I haven't even had a chance to blog about it yet (end of school craziness in full effect in my house LOL!) You can see my love themed layout right here in the Garden.  Here's a peek at my layout ...

Browsing the gallery at Two Peas is one of my favorite things to do when I'm looking for inspiration.  I fell in love with this layout by MelBlackburn.  I just loved the way she created the row of banners on her layout and anchored them using those wooden sticks.  Adorable!

Next I'd like to share a few recent purchases I've made from the shop at Two Peas.  Lots of new products have arrived recently and I've been stocking up for a very special project I'm working on for Two Peas.  Here are five of my most recent purchases ...

  • Teensy Type Cardstock Stickers (I believe I've said it before, but it bears repeating.  I am a sucker for tiny alphabet stickers.  I buy them in bulk.  And these stickers by Doodlebug Design are simply adorable.  Of course I picked them up in every color! LOL)

  • Cakewalk Collection (I love everything that October Afternoon puts out and this collection is no exception.  Makes a girl happy I tell ya!)

  • Shoreline Collection (I cannot wait to create with this collection from American Crafts.  It will be perfect for our summer vacation and beach photos.)

  • Sunnyside Collection (This paper from Pebbles is a new favorite - perfect for cutting up and adding to cards and layouts)

  • Thickers (There are some fantastic new Thickers in the shop.  I especially love these Thickers from the Studio Calico HeyDay collection.  The font is perfect and I love the linen finish on them.)

Garden Girl Lisa Truesdell just launched a brand new mini workshop called Divide & Conquer.  Here's a description of Lisa's new class ...

If you have the best intentions with mini albums – but not the best follow through – then it’s time to Divide and Conquer! Garden Girl Lisa Truesdell will walk you through the steps of using divided page protectors to turn a hodge podge of memorabilia and photos into a beautifully finished mini album. We’ll explore putting together a kit to work from, selecting what photos and keepsakes will make the cut, and fun techniques perfect for this style of book. Lisa also has lots of tips on keeping your motivation up & making the process fun until the last embellishment is in place, and will be sharing a peek at additional sample layouts from three other contributors, each working with a different themed album.

This self -paced workshop will let you work at your own speed through the chapters – each chapter is accompanied by a helpful PDF walking you through the process and a 10-minute video sharing a closer look at how Lisa’s album came together.  These videos are technique-based and will explore creating a die-cut cover, working with transparencies to build a two-sided layout, making custom sized page protectors and techniques for working with pockets.

Lisa is using the Simple Stories Documented 6x8 Mix & Match Mini Album available for purchase separately, however, these same principles may be applied to an album of any size using divided page protectors.

The content of this workshop will be available immediately upon purchase. The lessons are available for you to work at your own pace and upon purchase can be accessed in the "Workshops" section under "Classes & Events." A private message board forum is also available to ask questions for Lisa and to connect with other participants. Enjoy!

Two Peas In A Bucket - "Happy Father's Day" card

Hey everybody!  I can't believe this is my first blog post of the month and it's already half way over.  Between baseball season and end of school activities for both my boys, it seems I hardly have any time to sit down at my computer these days.  Plus I've been super busy working on a big project for Two Peas that will be coming up in a few months.  ;)  So for now my poor blog has been pushed down a bit on my list of things to do, and let me tell you it's a long list!  LOL

I did want to share a Father's Day card that recently went up in the Garden over at Two Peas In A Bucket this week.  I had planned to create this origami shirt card for my Finally Friday video this month. I saw an example on the Martha Stewart website and thought it was absolutely adorable. My video camera, however, had other plans and went completely kaput on me. So it is now in the shop being fixed (and hopefully returned to me very, very soon!).

I still wanted to share the card I created though because it was too cute not to. You can find written instructions for this card on the Martha Stewart website or just google "origami shirt" and lots of examples will pop up. I used the Family Man mini collection from Echo Park. The sticker sheet has several adorable ties on it (one of which my origami shirt is sporting) that are perfect for Father's Day cards and projects.

Any questions about how I created the card just leave them in the comments section and I'll try to answer them as best as I can. Thanks for stopping by! :)
