apple picking

The October kit from My Scrapbook Nook arrived on my doorstep yesterday and I couldn't wait to get right to work although I must admit I was intimidated. The kit features Graphic 45 Domestic Goddess which is very vintage inspired with lots of sweet prints and fun retro images. Also lots of Prima flowers, pretty lace ribbons, dyed to match buttons in the kit as well. Not things I typically use (well except the buttons) so I wasn't quite sure how this kit and I would get along. LOL

The colors were perfect for some apple picking pictures I took just last week though so I put my fears aside and started playing with paper and here's what I came up with ...

I've still got tons more kit to play with so stay tuned for some more goodies in the next few days.

Come see who our new designer is at GCD Studios!

More GCD Studios and Grafix Projects!

Hi Everyone! We are wrapping up our GCD Studios and Grafix blog party this week and I wanted to share the rest of the projects I created using these fun products.

These first two projects were created using Grafix Shrink Film and GCD Studios Schooled Collection. Let me just say this - if you loved playing with shrinky dinks as a child then you will LOVE this shrink film. It was seriously so much fun! I simply traced a clip art image onto the shrink film, colored it with my Copic markers, baked it in the oven and voila! Adorable little accents for this teacher's thank you card and mini composition book!

For this next project (and keeping with my teacher theme) I used Computer Grafix Films. These films are computer printable and allow you to add images, text, etc as an overlay to any project. I altered this simple wooden frame I picked up at Michaels with the GCD Studios Schooled Collection and then added a quote to the opening using a printed Grafix Film. A cute little pencil, twill, and chipboard heart and you have the perfect gift for a teacher!

On Friday there will be a giveaway for $100 worth of GCD Studios and Grafix products. Be sure to visit the GCD Studios blog to get all of the details. Thanks for stopping by!

sigh

Hey Everyone! I have been super busy around here both with scrappy stuff and just life in general (hence the lack of lots of blog posts) but I thought I'd share a recent layout I created using the latest kit from Studio Calico called Cotillion. The colors and patterns in this kit were really fun and vibrant and worked perfectly with this photo of Brandon I took just a few weeks ago.

And a little detail shot ...

I'll be back tomorrow with some more GCD Studios and Grafix projects to share. Thanks for stopping by!

GCD Studios and Grafix Blog Party!

For the month of September GCD Studios has paired up with Grafix. Grafix offers tons of great "do it yourself" art materials perfect for all sorts of paper crafting projects. All week long you will see lots of projects from the GCD Studios Design Team using various Grafix products. Then at the end of the week be sure to visit the GCD Studios blog where you will have a chance to win $100 worth of GCD Studios and Grafix goodies!

For my first project I created an altered flower pot perfect as a thank you gift for a teacher. I used Grafix Create Your Own Rub-Onz to add my quote to the actual flower pot. The stems of the flowers are actually pencils wrapped with grosgrain ribbon and my flowers are cut with my Cricut Expression and use papers from GCD's Schooled Collection. Add a few buttons as flower centers and some ribbon and this sweet gift is complete.

I'll be back on Thursday to share the rest of the projects I created so be sure to check back with me then. Thanks for stopping by!

Black River Designs Projects ...

Just thought I'd share a few of my Black River Designs projects for this month. I'm in love with this color combo of the green, blue, yellow and brown. I used it on some of my projects last month and, well, I used it here again. I can't help it! I think it is a perfect color combo for those little boy pages.

I don't get too many photos of these two together and both looking at the camera so of course I had to scrapbook this one immediately. The journaling is about my experience of being a mama two these two boys ... and how much I love it and them!

And just a sweet card with a cute little owl to say hello. Thanks for stopping by! :)

blessed and grateful

Just wanted to share another layout I created with the September kit from My Scrapbook Nook. I took this photo of Brandon last November and ran a basic vintage action on it to give it this warm glow. I think the colors are perfect with the Amber Road papers featured in the kit.

And a few detail images ...

(the chipboard letters are from my own stash)

fall frolic

Hi everyone! I have another layout to share with you today that I created with the September kit from My Scrapbook Nook. I love all things fall so scrapping some photos of the boys from last fall with these gorgeous Amber Road papers was just a little slice of heaven for me. I cannot wait for the weather to get a little cooler and the leaves to start changing. Ahhh! :)

And a few detail photos ...

I'll be back tomorrow with another layout from this kit. Thanks for stopping by!

Got Sketch 90

Happy Wednesday all! Is it really the middle of the week already?!? Seems like the days are just flying by. I am happy to report that we have had two straight days of no tears on the bus for Darian. WOO HOO! Maybe we've cleared that hurdle. Of course the same can't be said for mama's little drama llama Brandon but he just likes to put on a show. Big ol' crocodile tears from him every morning but he is totally fine the second I leave the room. Stinker! :P

Here's my contributor layout for Got Sketch? blog #90 using the fun Over the Rainbow kit from Studio Calico.

Lots of fussy cutting and pop dots on this layout - these Sassafras papers are just so fun and colorful!

Thanks for stopping by! I will have more projects using my September Nook kit tomorrow so be sure to check back! :)

FALL banner

Hey all! Just wanted to share a project I created with the September kit from My Scrapbook Nook. This kit is filled to the brim with goodies from Pink Paislee's new Amber Road Collection and I am just in heaven. LOVE LOVE LOVE this line!

The kit comes with a chipboard album from Maya Road but instead of using it to make a mini album I decided to make a fall banner instead. I simply used my crop-a-dile to punch holes in the corners where there weren't any and then got to work. This project actually came together really quickly - I completed the whole thing last night after the boys were in bed and the longest part was waiting for the paint and glitter glue to dry. LOL!

And here are some individual images of each of the letters ...

I should have some more projects from this kit completed very shortly so be sure to stop back in and take a peek! :)

Want to win these?

Want to win these fabulous Copic markers? Of course you do! (silly question on my part) Well then just head on over and visit my fellow Nook DT gal Leah for a chance to win these goodies. My Scrapbook Nook has great pricing on these (well below suggested retail) and the best part is that right now they have a 25% off coupon code (enter kit25 at checkout) which means you can get these pretty little markers for a bargain! So what are you waiting for?

And the September kits have just arrived at the Nook. Check out all of the Pink Paislee Amber Road goodies below that are included in this month's kit - isn't it so pretty? I'm hoping to play with mine this weekend! (p.s. if you do sign up for a membership be sure to mention that you heard about it from me, k?)

september 008

We hit a few bumps ...

... but I think we'll be okay. Darian was a trooper this morning and was all smiles until the big bus pulled up. He was hesitant to get on and as soon as I turned my back to walk away the tears started rolling. Thankfully our bus stop is packed with kids and my neighbor's little girl Katie who is in third grade sat with him on the bus. I'm sure once he got there he was fine but separations are always a little hard for him. That prompted tons of tears from Brandon who kept saying that he missed his brother which of course did not lead to an easy drop off for him at preschool. It'll be okay, right? (somebody please tell me it will get easier!)

Here's my little man on his first day of Kindergarten ...

And my last GCD Studios project for the month of August. A quick and easy card I put together using the Vintage Boy Collection.

Thanks for stopping by! :)

One down, one more to go!

First day of school that is! :) My little (big) boy had his first day of preschool today and the report was great. According to Brandon he loves his new school. According to his new teacher Miss Flora he was (and I quote) "very well mannered and polite." Really? Brandon? Not that I'm not thrilled to pieces to hear that kind of report but my guy Brandon loves to exert his inner three year old now and again with fits of "no" and other unpleasant toddler phrases. Glad to hear he kept it in check for school and just saves all that sass for his mama. Hee hee!

Here's a photo of my boy ready to conquer the world of ABCs and 123s ...

And how 'bout a little crafty project while I'm at it. I know I said I had more GCD Studios projects to share so this one is a layout I created using the Morning Glory Collection. That little girl in the photo is my sweet niece Una - isn't she a doll?

Thanks for stopping by! :)
